SYIS Registration Options & Events

Student – A student is any individual who is engaged as a graduate or undergraduate in a university or college program or as an MD resident and is actively interested in research in the field of TERM. Students are required to provide their university ID for verification of their undergraduate/graduate status. Young Investigator/ Trainee – Young Investigators are defined as persons who are employed in the field of TERM, who have been either awarded a doctoral degree within the past three (3) years or are working as researchers and have less than seven (7) years research experience following master’s degree. Young Investigators should not hold an appointment as faculty, academic staff or group leader in a university/research institute or in industry. Young investigators are required to have their advisor/supervisor send a letter as proof of the bona fide status of the young investigator. Pre-Conference Workshop: 3D Bioprinting: Principles and Strategies for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine

The workshop will feature expert speakers working in the field and a panel discussion with industry leaders on the commercialization and translation of 3D bioprinting. The talks will be followed by technology demonstrations of Aspect Biosystems’ microfluidic 3D bioprinting technology and FluidForm’s FRESH printing platform. Both technologies offer strategies for creating complex tissue structures while promoting tissue function.

Pre-Conference Workshop: TERMIS-AM/NSERC CREATE TOeP Entrepreneurship Workshop

This workshop is geared towards TERMIS-AM trainees and focused on Entrepreneurship in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. This workshop will be carried out in conjunction with and sponsored by the NSERC CREATE Training Program in Organ-on-a-Chip & Entrepreneurship (TOeP). The long-term objective of TOeP is to educate a skilled individuals with expertise in both bioengineering and entrepreneurship. We propose to organize a workshop in which the trainees will be able to work on a series of case studies to improve their understanding of what it entail to become an entrepreneur: – Improving problem-based design in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine; – Understanding the steps toward commercialization of devices and cell based therapeutics; – Developing your own business; – Facilitating fundraising; – Preparing a pitch; can ultimately fuel the creation of a high-tech economy.

Cancellation/Substitution Policy & COVID-19 Waiver
Cancellation Requests for refunds will be accepted until Monday, June 27, 2022 with a $100 processing fee. Verbal cancellation will not be accepted. Please provide an email to Tatiana Veres at am2022@termis.org stating your cancellation request. Refunds may be processed after June 27, 2022 on a case-by-case basis. Please email us if you have a Covid-19 related cancellation. Cancellations will be verified via email. If you do not receive an e-mail verifying your cancellation, please contact Tatiana Veres at am2022@termis.org. Refunds will be processed four to six weeks after the conference. Pre-paid no shows or early departures will not be refunded. Substitutions are permitted. Substitution requests must be made in writing (see info below). Canceling your hotel reservation does NOT cancel your conference registration and vice versa. If you dispute any charges to your credit card, there will be a dispute fee of $25.00 charged to your credit card account. A $25.00 process fee will be charged to any attendee who requests the original credit card charge be refunded and a new credit card processed for payment. Attendee Substitutions Substitution requests will be accepted until Monday, June 27, 2022. Please email am2022@termis.org with your substitution request. Additional Information Receipts will be e-mailed to each registrant. Name badges for all registrants will be handed out upon check-in at the meeting. WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY BY EVENT PARTICIPANT I understand that, in connection with participating in the 2022 TERMIS-AM Annual Conference and Exhibition (“the Event”) sponsored by the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society - Americas (TERMIS-AM) (“Sponsor”) and held at the Sheraton Toronto City Centre in Toronto, Canada (“Venue”), I may be exposed to persons who, knowingly or unknowingly, are infected with the novel coronavirus and/or have contracted COVID-19 and/or another communicable disease. The waiver, release and other representations set forth herein are given in consideration for the Sponsor permitting me to participate in the Event. 1. Acceptance of Risk; Release; Indemnification. I am fully aware that there are a number of risks associated with me entering onto the Venue and participating in the Event during the COVID-19 pandemic, including without limitation: (a) I could contract COVID-19 or other diseases which could result in a serious medical condition requiring medical treatment in a hospital or which could possibly lead to death; and (b) I will be subject to normal risks associated with participating in the Event, such as physical injuries or even death or loss or damage to personal property, including without limitation, from slips or falls, food poisoning or allergic reaction to food served during the Event, physical or verbal altercations with Venue staff or other Event participants, or injury due to the nature of the Event. On behalf of myself and my heirs, successors and assigns, I knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown, relating to my participation in the Event and being present at the Venue, and I hereby forever release, waive, relinquish and discharge the Sponsor and its officers, directors, managers, officials, trustees, agents, employees or other representatives, and their successors and assigns, including but not limited to the International Energy Credit Association (IECA), Association Headquarters, Inc. (AH), and its respective owners, shareholders, officers, managers, officials, directors, trustees, agents, employees and representatives (collectively, the “Sponsor Representatives”), from any and all claims, demands, liabilities, rights, damages, expenses, and causes of action of whatever kind or nature, and other losses of any kind, whether known or unknown, foreseen or unforeseen, (collectively, “Damages”) as a result of me being present on the Venue property and participating at the Event as described above, including but not limited to those related to the above described personal injuries, death, disease or property losses, or any other loss, and including but not limited to claims based on the alleged negligence of any Sponsor Representative or any other person.I further promise not to sue the Sponsor or any Sponsor Representative and agree to indemnify and hold them harmless from any and all Damages resulting from my being present at the Venue and participating in the Event. 2. Affirmative Representations. I represent and warrant that I will not enter the Venue or participate in the Event if (a) I am aware, as of the date of the Event, that I have contracted and not completely recovered from COVID-19 or another communicable disease; (b) I am aware, as of the date of the Event, that I have been exposed within the prior two weeks to someone who had contracted or was subsequently determined to have contracted, COVID-19 or another communicable disease; (c) I have been tested for COVID-19 or another communicable disease but not yet received the results of such test; or (d) I have symptoms consistent with having contracted COVID-19 or another communicable disease. I also represent and warrant that, during the course of the Event, I will comply with all applicable regulations and guidelines regarding COVID-19 and any other communicable disease, including those imposed by the Venue, the Sponsor, and the Sponsor Representatives. READ CAREFULLY -- BY CHECKING BELOW YOU ARE GIVING UP IMPORTANT LEGAL RIGHTS.
